E-books

Marfa Public Library has e-books! Using the Cloud Library app on iOS or Android, you can read or listen to books for free on your phone or tablet (or even a Kindle Fire!).

For iOS (Apple)

  • Download the CloudLibrary app from the Apple App Store.
  • Open the app.
  • Choose your preferred language.
  • In the "Select Country" field, choose "United States."
  • In the "Select State/Region" field, scroll down to select "Texas."   
  • In the "Select Library" field, scroll down to select "Marfa Public Library (E-Read Texas)."
  • Click "Next."
  • To accept the End User License Agreement, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policy, click "Accept."
  • Enter your library card ID number (found on the back of your library card) and PIN (your phone number with no hyphens).
  • Click “Login.”

For Android

  • Download the  CloudLibrary app from the Google Play Store.
  • Open the app.
  • Choose your preferred language.
  • In the "Select Country" field, choose "United States."
  • In the "Select State/Region" field, scroll down to select "Texas."   
  • In the "Select Library" field, scroll down to select "Marfa Public Library (E-Read Texas)."
  • Click "Next."
  • To accept the End User License Agreement, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policy, click "Accept."
  • Enter your library card ID number (found on the back of your library card) and PIN (your phone number with no hyphens).
  • Click “Login.”

To browse titles: Click "Search" at the bottom of the screen, and you'll see titles in various categories.

To search for a specific author or title: Click "Search" at the bottom of the screen. At the top of the screen, you'll see a "Enter Search Keyword(s)" box. Enter the author or book name. Tap the cover of any book to read its description, or check it out (or place a hold, should it be unavailable).

To read a book: Once a book is downloaded, click the cover to open the book. Turn pages by tapping on the right or left edges of the screen. Tap the center of the screen to display the top navigation toolbar.

  • Click the magnifying glass to search the book.
  • Tap A to access controls for adjusting text style and size, margins, line height, scroll mode, and more.
  • Click the three lines in the upper right corner to access the Table of Contents, Bookmarks, and Highlights. 
  • To exit the title, click the "X" in the upper left corner.
